Ketchup

A super simple, easy recipe to make your own Heinz like ketchup. No cooking involved. Just mix, refrigerate and bottle. See video below.

NOTE: Requires overnight refrigeration.

INGREDIENTS

1 - 6oz can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
3 TBSP white vinegar
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/8 cup (2TBSP) brown sugar
1/4 tsp ground yellow mustard powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
"barely a pinch" of ground clove
"barely a pinch" of ground allspice

PREPARATION

1. 30 minutes ahead of time, boil 1/2 cup water and add onion powder.

2. Let water mixture sit for 30 minutes to prime it.

3. Place tomato paste in medium bowl.

4. Add water mixture and remaining ingredients to tomato paste and whisk together until lumps are gone.

5. Keep in bowl and put in fridge overnight for flavors to blend.

NOTE: If your ketchup does happen to gel on you because of inadequate priming of the onion powder, mix it with a little more water.
