This recipe doesn't include a recipe for the pastry shells. The other tart recipes do: Caramel Pecan Fudge Tarts and Old Fashioned Butter Tarts.
Recipe can be doubled.


INGREDIENTS

12 unbaked tart shells, 2" each. Find recipe elsewhere.
1 egg
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup shortening
(optional) 3/4 cup raisins, toasted pecans or walnuts


PREPARATION

1. Prepare tart shells and arrange on a baking sheet. (Or follow an alternate recipe to make homemade pastry shells. See above for links.)

2. Oven to 400.

3. Distribute raisins or nuts into shells, if using them.

4. In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, shortening, egg, vanilla, and salt.

5. Mix until smooth and pour into shells, filling about half-way.

6. Bake 12-15 minutes until pastry is golden brown. Be careful not to overbake.
