Homemade cole slaw
This recipe is based on this one from AllRecipes.com and is for 4 servings.

1/4 to 1/3 of a cabbage
1 small carrot
1 or 2 green onions
1/2 to 2/3 of unpeeled red apple
1/2 to 2/3 of unpeeled Granny Smith apple
2-3 Tbl mayonnaise
1 Tbl white sugar, plus extra to taste
1/2 to 2/3 of unpeeled Granny Smith apple
2-3 Tbl mayonnaise
1 Tbl white sugar, plus extra to taste
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp apple cider (optional)
1/2 tsp celery seed
salt and pepper
PREPARATION
1. Use the coarse setting in a box grater or finely chop the cabbage (about 2 cups) and the carrot and place into a medium bowl.
2. Finely chop the green onion and stir into the cabbage mixture.
3. In a small bowl, begin with the lowest amount of mayonnaise, white sugar, lemon juice, and apple cider (if using).
4. Add celery seed, salt, and pepper, adjusting all ingredients to taste and add salt and pepper to taste as well.
5. Chop the apples into 1/4" pieces or smaller and stir into the cabbage mixture. Refrigerate or serve immediately.
