Cornstarch Meltaways


Jeanne found this 1919 gluten-free recipe on TikTok from B. Dylan Hollis, who provides instructions and taste tests on vintage recipes. Apparently the recipe is from the book Proven Recipes: Showing the Uses of the Three Great Products from Corn.


INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup softened butter
2 cups cornstarch


PREPARATION

1. Oven 325
2. In a large bowl, combine the milk and butter, beating vigorously.
3. Use the handle of a wooden spoon to slowly beat in the cornstarch.
4. Make batter into 1" balls and place them on a parchment lined cookie sheet about 1-2" apart.
5. Bake at 325 for 15-20.
