Tip: Flour substitution for self-rising flour

To substitute regular all-purpose flour for self-rising flour, do one of these two things:

OPTION 1:
For one cup of self-rising flour, use 1 cup of all purpose flour minus 2 tsp, with the addition of 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder and 1/2 tsp. salt to make the full cup.

OPTION 2:
For TWO cups of self-rising flour, you can substitute all-purpose flour by adding 2 tsp of baking powder for every 2 cups of flour. Self-rising flour also usually contains salt: if the recipe doesn't call for any salt, add 1 tsp salt for every 2 cups of flour.

This translates to adding 1 tsp of baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt for every 1 cup of flour.
